Halftime Thoughts

If I had to pick the mid-point portion of my road trip, I'd say my current location - Reedsport, OR - is it.  I'm at about 3,800 miles.  So far everything has gone better than I thought.  Driving has been surprisingly easy - Candy is pretty comfy for an old hag.  I spend an average of 8-10 hours a day on the road I'd say.  It goes by quickly and it's because of the texts, emails, and phone calls.

Thank you friends and family!  You're awesome.

Sure... I text while I drive.  But I'm a phenom so don't worry about it.  I can text, drive, shove food in my face, adjust the radio, check the GPS, and pay attention to the road at the same time.  Dangerous?  Perhaps it is to the average driver - but like I said, I'm a phenom.  I own the road and every activity performed while driving on it.

There are times - many times - I've hit the seek button and it just cycles around and around and around.  I've been in some pretty remote places.  Luckily I brought a Michael Buble CD with me - the only CD I brought.  It's his new one - can't recall the name - and it's a pretty damn good CD.  I recommend it to those of you who appreciate some modern jazz.  I have to say thanks to Lauren W. for the recommendation!  I owe ya one!

I think it's obvious how impressed I am with Candy so far.  I think her shoes are worn, yet she's hanging in there so bravely.  She hasn't let me down yet.  I promise I'll pamper her once I get her home - but for now I'm really counting her to get me through the rest of this venture.

I've reached the point in my journey in which I have contact with people I know!  I think every day from here on out - until I make it home - I'm meeting up with someone I know.  The first week was incredible for me - even without people I know.  I love being by myself and seeing/doing new things.  Gives me a chance to think, relax, reflect, etc.  Now I get to share it with friends over the next week - a perfect combination.

I'm off to bed.  Long weekend with a 500+ mile journey tomorrow, winery stops, airport pick-up, going out, early wake-up for Sunday, tour of San Fran to Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, then traveling to LA and/or south to Huntington Beach, then to Phoenix.

I'll try to keep the blog updated over the next few days, but I may not get to it until Sunday night or Monday due to how occupied I intend on being based on the info above.
